We're the faces behind Phoenix & Folk.

Laura (Mama), James (Dad) and our 2 boys -  Xavier (life-lover) & Flynn (our little Phoenix). 

Over the past 3 years our family has been through quite the journey...

 Late 2017, in one life-altering moment… our 15 month old beautiful boy Flynn, was diagnosed with a rare leukaemia. In that instance, our world was torn apart. We went from living a life of ease on tropical Christmas Island, to a rollercoaster existence on the mainland, and the journey to heal Flynn.

The only cure for Flynn was a bone marrow transplant - an extremely toxic procedure, with awful side effects and multiple transplant related complications. Understandably one of the most traumatic, stressful journeys we would take...

On the morning before we went into isolation for Flynn's treatment, my husband James and I, got a take away coffee... And on our cups was a beautiful painted design of a Phoenix bird.

The myth and symbolism of the Phoenix is a sign of second chances, renewal, rising and ‘rebirth!'

With bone marrow transplants being known as 'rebirthdays,' we both just looked at our cups and smiled - taking it as a special and positive sign!

And since that day, we've had many Phoenix symbols appear (particularly at times when we need extra strength!) ...On number plates, clothing, pictures, billboards, books - it's always uplifting.

The Phoenix is symbolic of life in so many ways... A part of being human. To fall & rise again.

There was a part of us that was reborn during our traumatic journey too. Part of ourselves as parents fell into the ashes - and rose again - worn, but with new found strength & gratitude beyond measure.

Fast forward 3 years... After a long road of healing and our son so gratefully in remission - happy, healthy & thriving... We began to ask ourselves - how can we pay it forward ?

And so Phoenix & Folk was created...

On many days, hope & inspiration came to us within seemingly ordinary moments, through the simplicity of quotes, symbols, gratitude & mindfulness.

It is the small, simple daily reminders that help us to see joy, gratitude, hope and keep going.

And so we created these products to be visual, tangible reminder of this for you!

It's a part of being human to experience both joy and pain. Light and dark. Sunshine and rain. We're all in this together - we are never truly alone!

And because of the journey we have travelled - at our heart - we're here to support the children (& their families) who are in the midst of navigating life-threatening illnesses day-in and day-out. 

We wanted to be able to support others who were where we'd just been. 

So 10% of all proceeds from Phoenix & Folk will go direct to supporting children and their families facing childhood cancer & blood disorders.

We’re forever grateful for the love we received while our Flynny went through his Bone Marrow Transplant, so we're here to offer that little bit of light for others too.
